About the Author
Roald Dahl and Andrzej Potocki were born in the UK to immigrant parents. Circumstances during and just after World War Two led them both to settle in Great Missenden and become neighbours.
Personal Life
Andrzej Potocki now lives with his wife in Surrey, England.
They don’t like the cold weather, so their main holidays are during the British winters, when they like to tour warmer spots like Egypt.
Their daughter, Nicola, son-in-law, Mick and granddaughter, Phoebe, live nearby.
Sports and Entertainment
Andrzej enjoys most live entertainment. He’s a regular theatre and concert goer, and includes the courtyard of Hampton Court as one of his favourite venues.
In any particular year, he would certainly go to tennis, the Eastbourne tournament being his favourite, snooker at Alexandra Palace, horse racing, rugby and football, having been a member at Crystal Palace and Brentford.
The greatest sporting events he attended include FA Cup and European Cup Finals, the Monaco E-Prix and London 2012.
Sports - Active
Throughout life, Andrzej’s main interests lay in sport. Although not particular talented at any individual sport, he did discover that he could run for long distances and actually admits to having enjoyed doing so. On holiday in a new location, he’d often explore the neighbourhood by running.
In spite of the lack of talent, he is proud of two sporting achievements, one running and one golfing.
Sports – Volunteering
He first tasted volunteer work at the London 2012 Olympics.
He got so much out of this that he followed up with the Rugby League World Championships in 2013, worked at Lords Cricket and Esher Rugby Club. He is currently Handicap Secretary at his local golf club.
